1.6 What Are Clean Energy Solutions

Clean energy solutions is a broadly defined concept that encompasses solutions to reduce our environmental footprint, manage the increased global demand for energy and strive toward energy independence
To this end, the Competition seeks creative solutions that, in a material way, more efficiently manage existing resources and/or develop new cleaner sources of energy solutions involve products or services which promote, enhance or advance:

Diversity of supply sources/transmission
Efficiency in use
Reduce negative environmental effects such as greenhouse gas emissions

Clean Energy Technologies:

Renewable sources of energy: solar, wind, fuel cells, bio-fuels, geothermal, hydro-technologies, etc.

Alternate Fuels: ethanol, biodiesel, other biofuels and hydrogen

Transportation: high efficiency vehicles, engines using alternate fuels and traffic optimization

Energy Efficiency and Demand Response: electricity end use, building energy use management and grid applications

Enabling Technologies: storage, power electronics, cables and wires, sensors and instrumentation, control systems, materials and manufacturing technology

High Performance Buildings and Green System: sustainable design and integrated clean energy application
